Corner was a 2 part installation. The first part was slow. A mailbox and wall was hung installed at Pioneer Books on the corner of Van Brunt and Pioneer Street from June-Sept 2019. People submitted their addresses and were mailed Wallpaper Postcards. The responses to the postcards were added to the wall as they came in. The Second part was fast! It took place at Pioneer Works’ Second Sundays. The artist photographed objects that visitors had with them in front of the wallpaper pattern. These were printed out and added to the wall immediately. Everyone left with a copy of their photograph.

Artist Statement about Corner
Red Hook has the feeling of small town to me. Wallpaper Postcards is obsessed with the idea of a small corner of the world, or in this case the corner of a giant metropolis.
The corner is always a meeting point for people, sometimes unexpectedly so. Running into an old friend or ex-lover.
Corners are important to a process and to ‘turn the corner’ means you are making progress.
Corners are directional, but they also have many angles. A filmmaker could trick you into thinking one corner is dozens of locations. A small town could appear huge if shot from one crossing.
Wallpaper Postcards has found a temporary home on the corner of Van Brunt and Pioneer Streets. A place to meet with or without intention, and an intersection that could send you off in many directions.
